A year ago, filmmakers Yfke van Berckelaer and Micah Baskir launched the web series and social media platform The Burgerists. While on a road trip to Las Vegas they pondered the question: “Wouldn’t it be great if we could eat all the weird and wonderful burgers that the US has to offer and film it along the way?” And so The Burgerists was born.
The Burgerists profiles all things hamburger related. Bi-weekly released videos profile an extraordinary hamburger place or event. Micah and Yfke seek to discover the incredible stories behind the burger. The two filmmakers produce, shoot, direct and edit the videos themselves, as well eat and taste all the burgers themselves. Most of the videos in the first season take place in and around LA but their goal is to eventually cover the rest of the US as well. No other food means so much to the American people as the hamburger so the stories (and burgers) are endless. There are also plans to expand the web series into a full TV-series and/or feature length documentary.
The Burgerists Season 1, has just ended with its 28th special anniversary episode. Season 2 will premiere in the fall 2015. Until then Yfke and Micah will keep on posting burger related news on their website and Facebook, Tumbler, Twitter and Instagram platforms. Check it out!
