Curt Lowens honored at the Los Angeles Jewish Film Festival


At the 10th Los Angeles Jewish Film Festival, The Holland Hollywood Connection was honored to take part of a special tribute to Curt Lowens, Holocaust survivor and member of Dutch Resistance and Hollywood actor.
Festival Director Hilary Helstein kindly asked the Holland Hollywood Connection and the Consulate General of the Netherlands to partner up with Los Angeles Jewish Film Festival for the east coast premiere of the Dutch feature “Secrets of War” by Dennis Bots.
Based on a book by Jacques Vriens, it tells a story of inseparable childhood friends who find their loyalty severely tested in the Nazi-occupied Netherlands when a girl tells a very personal secret to only one of them.
Followed was Curt Lowens honoring and during the Q&A, he told the audience his heroic story of his escape and resistance during World War II in Holland, where he placed and cared for hundreds of Jewish children in hiding.
