The municipality of Amsterdam recently announced that the American action film “The Hitman’s Bodyguard” will, in part, be filmed in the Netherlands this autumn. The cast and crew will most likely commence production in Amsterdam and Maastricht around the end of September or beginning of October for approximately two weeks. It is expected that main actors Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson and Ryan Reynolds will be present.
The Hitman’s Bodyguard follows a hitman en route to The Hague who has agreed to testify against a former European head of state. A bodyguard is brought in to escort him to the trial and ensure his safety but their complicated history makes this no mean feat.
Which actors will be present in which city is not clear yet. This depends on the latest version of the script that is currently being rewritten. According to the municipality of Amsterdam, “The Hitman’s Bodyguard” will be one of the largest American productions in the Netherlands since a long time.
The Netherlands Film Fund awards grants for production costs to films of cultural value. Their Production Incentive Scheme is based on a system of an impressive 30% cash rebate for eligible productions. For more information, please visit https://www.filmcommission.nl/ .
